Day 1 | Arrival in Leticia and Amazon Experience

  • Reception and assistance by the Amazon Açaí Lodge team from your hotel in Leticia or from Alfredo Vásquez Cobo International Airport.

  • Transfer to the river dock, located on the banks of the majestic Amazon River.

  • Navigation by public service boat upstream along the Amazon River to Amazon Açaí Lodge, where your guide will be waiting to begin the activities.

  • Public route departure times: 7:00 a.m. | 9:00 a.m. | 12:00 p.m. | 2:00 p.m.

  • During the journey, enjoy panoramic views of the great Amazon River and its lush riverbanks, home to riverside communities in Colombia and Peru.

  • Arrival at the lodge, welcome with a natural fruit juice, cabin assignment, and accommodation.

  • Dinner at the lodge restaurant.

  • Night walk in the terra firme rainforest, observing nocturnal wildlife and discovering a vibrant jungle filled with sounds that create an authentic Amazonian symphony.

 

Day 2 | Jungle Hike and Aquatic Ecosystems

  • Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

  • In the morning, we will venture into the terra firme rainforest, learning about ethnobotanical important species and the dynamics of the Amazon forest. Identification of trees such as capinurí, açaí, aguaje, and other culturally significant species for local communities.

  • Visit to the Grandfather Tree, an impressive centuries-old ceiba tree.

  • Observation of wildlife typical of the terra firme ecosystem.
    (Approximate 3-hour hike).

  • Return to the lodge.

  • Lunch at Amazon Açaí Lodge.

  • In the afternoon, exploration of aquatic ecosystems such as the banks of the Amazon River and the Guakarí stream.

  • Navigation in traditional canoes to lakes located on river islands in front of the lodge.

  • Appreciation of the flooded forest landscape, paddling through aquatic jungle trails in canoes, depending on river levels.

  • Dinner at the lodge.

  • Night bonfire in the jungle, accompanied by stories, myths, and ancestral legends of the Amazon.

 

Day 3 | Mocagua Community and Maikuchiga Trail

  • Optional: Wake-up at 5:30 a.m. and canoe excursion for birdwatching (binoculars recommended).

  • Breakfast at 8:00 a.m.

  • Departure by tourist boat to the indigenous community of Mocagua.

  • Welcome by the community members.

  • Guided walk through the community, visiting homes and traditional crops.

  • Hike along the Maikuchiga Trail to the wildlife recovery area (terra firme and flooded forest).

  • Instruction and identification of New World primate species: distribution, ecology, and behavior.

  • Observation of monkeys in rehabilitation, such as:
    white-fronted monkeys, woolly monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and capuchins, during their first stage of readaptation to the natural environment.

  • Talk about the recovery process, ecological role, reintegration into the natural habitat, and the role of the Mocagua community in conservation.

  • Return to the community (during high-water season, access is by canoe).

  • Lunch at Amazon Açaí Lodge.

  • In the afternoon, departure by traditional boat for artisanal fishing, piranha fishing, and observation of Amazonian fish species.

  • Dinner at the lodge.

 

Day 4 | Puerto Nariño and Tarapoto Lakes

  • Breakfast at 7:00 a.m.

  • Departure by traditional boat to Puerto Nariño.

  • Visit to Maloca Moroapu (Ticuna Maloca or House of the Elders).

  • Cultural exchange with the Ticuna elders: visit to traditional crops, recognition of medicinal plants, ancestral stories, and songs in their native language.

  • Learning traditional handicrafts such as chambira weaving and yanchama painting (palm fibers and tree bark).

  • Demonstration of the use of the blowgun and bow and arrow.

  • Traditional lunch at Maloca Moroapu.

  • Tour of Puerto Nariño, known as the natural nativity scene of Colombia.

  • Visit to Naipata Viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the town and the Amazon River.

  • Departure to the Tarapoto Lakes.

  • Time for swimming and enjoying the natural surroundings.

  • Observation of pink and gray Amazon river dolphins.

  • Return to the lodge.

  • Dinner at Amazon Açaí Lodge.

 

Day 5 | Return to Leticia

  • Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

  • Optional activities depending on return schedule: artisanal fishing, piranha fishing, and observation of Amazonian fish species.

  • Lunch at the lodge.

  • Public route return schedules to Leticia:
    7:00 a.m. | 10:00 a.m. | 1:00 p.m. | 3:00 p.m.

  • Arrival in Leticia.

  • Assistance by the Amazon Açaí Lodge team for transfer to your hotel or to the airport, one hour before your flight.

 

Includes:

  • 4 nights accommodation at Amazon Açaí Lodge in cabins with beds and private bathroom.

  • Full board during your stay at Amazon Açaí Lodge.

Recommendations and Suggestions – Amazon Tour Plans

 

It is essential to carry valid identification:

  • National ID card (adults)

  • Identity card or birth certificate (minors)

  • Parental authorization when only one parent is traveling and the program requires crossing borders

  • Passport or foreign ID card for foreign visitors or residents

 

It is recommended to have the international yellow fever vaccination certificate (applied at least 10 days before travel) and the tetanus vaccine.
Vaccinations are a preventive suggestion, not mandatory.

 

Bring your medical assistance card, health insurance ID, or pre-paid health plan.
